Class descriptions:
Babies and Tykes
Introducing children as young as 3 months old to movement and music education can be a fun and engaging experience that offers dynamic developmental benefits. This program offers a playful and creative approach to movement and music education, fostering exploration, discovery, and creativity in its youngest learners. Class combines dance, music, and play to nurture young learners.
The curriculum is based on international dance and music education standards and current best practices in early childhood development. It's understood that every child is unique and has their own pace of learning. Therefore, the program is designed to cater to the needs of every child.
Every class introduces a new music and movement concept through sensory activities, circle dances, rhymes and songs, and movement exploration.
The class is designed to be enjoyable for both babies and their caregivers. We encourage caregivers to participate in the class and bond with their child through movement and music. Class will prioritize "fun on purpose", ensuring that dancers and caregivers alike will enjoy every moment of the class.
Tots
In this class, the focus is on nurturing gross motor, emotional, and social development through various movement concepts, circle dances, free exploration, songs and rhymes, and sensory activities. By encouraging this type of exploration and discovery, little ones develop their curiosity and joy for learning. Moreover, caregivers will have the opportunity to delight in their child's growth and development as they make friends and socialize with others.
The Tots Caregiver and Me class is designed for children ages 2-3 years and their caregivers to explore the joy of dance and movement together. This class offers a lively environment for independent movers and their caregivers to discover and explore movement concepts while gaining balance, flexibility, and coordination.
The curriculum is designed to provide opportunities for problem-solving, using animated storytelling, songs and rhymes, instruments, props, and simple choreography to add fun and excitement.
This is a great stepping stone for students preparing for their Pre-Dance classes.
Adaptive
The Adaptive Caregiver and Me class for ages 1-4 years old is an inclusive program that welcomes children with genetic differences, cognitive disabilities, physical challenges and sensory processing disorders. This class is designed to encourage participation and creativity through animated storytelling, songs and rhymes, instruments, props, and simple choreography. Each class is tailored to the unique needs of the children enrolled, ensuring that all children are able to participate and have fun.
Through dance, music and sensory activities, children are encouraged to explore their creativity, build their confidence, and develop their motor skills. The program is designed to enhance lifelong learning and neural development, while also providing a fun and engaging experience for children and their caregivers.
In addition, this class offers an opportunity for parents and caregivers of the dancers to come together and form a community of support and understanding.
Adaptive Beginner
The beginner level adaptive dance classes are open to anyone aged five
and over. Our approach is based on cognitive, intellectual, sensory and
physical abilities, rather than age. The beginner level incorporates activities
like rhythm lessons, sensory exercises, creative movement, across the floor
gross-motor practice, choreography and purposeful games, all in a 30-
minute class. To ensure that every student is engaged, safe and involved in
the activities, there will be a minimum 1:2 assistant-to-student ratio in the
beginner level. This class will explore jazz, hip hop, lyrical and creative
movement and will perform in the end of the season recital.
Pre-Dance 1
Pre-Dance 1 classes are a combination of ballet and tap technique fundamentals. They incorporate creative movement, develop gross motor skills, teach rhythm and musicality, and culminate with fun dance games!
Tiny Tumbling
Tiny Tumbling is a fun add on to the Pre-Dance 1 class. Students develop strength and flexibility while working on rolling, balancing, coordination, and cartwheeling!
Pre-Dance 2
A continuation of the Pre-Dance 1 curriculum that matches child development. Ballet and tap techniques are developed further, while maintaining an outlet for creativity.
Mini Jazz
Mini Jazz is a fun add on to the Pre-Dance 2 class. Students learn introductory jazz technique while showcasing their personality!
Ballet
Ballet classes consist of barre work, center combinations, and across the floor progressions to develop strength, alignment, poise, confidence, grace, and knowledge of this classic technique.
Tap
Tap classes teach the traditions of one of America's most notable art forms. Rhythm, technique, and classic tap steps are explored, as well as the latest styles and tricks of today!
Jazz
Jazz classes explore Broadway, classic, and contemporary jazz forms utilizing isolations, sharp and quick movements, and various leaps and turns. Jazz classes are full of personality, power packed and high energy!
Modern
Modern is a classic dance technique utilizing strength and stability as dancers learn to fall and recover and work off center. Rooted in the Humphrey/Weidman technique of fall and recovery, dancers will be challenged in off center work, floor work, and more. Dancers will learn to expand and contract and create new and different shapes and movements with their bodies. Explored in a high energy, dynamic class setting. This class is a great way for dancers to reach beyond their ballet technique and try something new! Ballet enrollment required.
Lyrical
Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz, creating a fluid and graceful style reflecting the lyrics of accompanied music. Lyrical is taught as a beginning contemporary class. Ballet enrollment required.
Contemporary
Contemporary is an expressive dance form that combines several elements of dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. This style challenges convention and focuses on developing student artistry, implementing new ideas of movement.
